Recently awarded the City of Culture for 2017, the City of Hull is one of the most diverse cities.Visit the Olde Town where you’ll find the free Museums Quarter, including the Streetlife Museum and the Arctic Corsair, and lots of tempting historic pubs such as Ye Olde White Harte where allegedly the plotting for the Civil War took place. Take a wander along the marina enjoying the peaceful sound of the waves lapping against the boats. With plenty of shopping and places to eat, Hull offers something for any type of explorer!

October is a month to watch as the annual Hull Fair is in town! Beginning on the Friday closest to the 11th of the month the fair offers a variety of rides and attractions for a week.

The town of Beverley is well known for its markets and the Minster. This quaint town has a great selection of shops along the cobbled streets for even the discerning shopper with a great mix of high street and boutiques. Saturday market is a great opportunity for a browse. The Westwood is on the outskirts of Beverley which is a lovely place to stretch your legs after lunch or explore on horseback. Skidby Windmill is also not far, Yorkshire’s last working windmill. The mill is set in over an acre of land, with magnificent views over the Wolds. The courtyard contains various exhibits including a blacksmith’s forge, and the cafe. There is also a garden area for picnics and a wildlife garden.

Enjoy the glamour and a flutter on the horses? Beverley racecourse is a popular track.

Known as the ‘Capital of the Wolds’, Driffield is another of the areas treasured market towns. As well as two weekly markets every Thursday and Saturday, there is an award winning farmers market held on the first Saturday of every month. The 500 year old tower of All Saint’s Church can be seen for miles around. Driffield’s canal and its three streams for a basis for some lovely walks. Nearby is Sledmere House, home to the Sykes family who have played a major part in maintaining and restoring churches throughout the East Riding. The House has many interesting features, especially the Turkish room and the 100ft long library.
